Cartridge questions, answered
How do I tell if my cartridge is threaded or non-threaded?
Look at the neck below the tip: threaded cartridges have visible screw threads and screw into the tool; non-threaded cartridges have a smooth neck and are pierced by a pin when you tighten the cap. They are not interchangeable.
What gas do I need — CO₂, nitrogen, nitrous oxide, or argon?
CO₂ powers drain guns, bike inflators, airsoft, and carbonation. Nitrogen (N₂) gives nitro coffee and stouts their smooth, cascading pour. Nitrous oxide (N₂O) is for whipped-cream chargers. Argon is an inert gas that preserves opened wine.
What size CO₂ cartridge does an HVAC drain gun use?
Nearly all condensate drain guns use 16 gram threaded CO₂ cartridges. Heavy-duty guns also accept 45 gram threaded cartridges for long or stubborn lines.
