Drain guns
How do I operate the drain gun?
Unscrew the protection sleeve from the drain gun. Insert the cartridge into the sleeve, making sure it is the correct size and type for your model. Slowly screw the sleeve into the head of the drain gun until the cartridge just touches the puncture pin, then quickly and firmly screw the sleeve all the way in to puncture and seal the cartridge.
What CO2 cartridge fits my drain gun?
It depends on your model. The Classic 16g (trigger) accepts most 16 gram cartridges with an 8.3 mm neck, threaded or unthreaded. The Red Button 16g requires unthreaded 16g cartridges with an 8.3 mm neck. The Green Button 20g needs unthreaded 20g cartridges with an 8.3 mm neck.
What is an 8.3 mm neck CO2 cartridge?
The neck is the narrow part at the top of the cartridge — the part that fits into the tool and is punctured to release the gas. 8.3 mm refers to that neck’s diameter, the standard for drain guns and most unthreaded tools.
CO2 grades & basics
What is the difference between beverage and industrial CO2?
Beverage-grade CO2 is made and handled for food and beverage applications where the gas may contact consumable products — see Beverage & Food-Grade CO2. Industrial CO2 serves HVAC drain guns, tire inflation, life jackets, tools, and other non-consumable uses — see Industrial CO2. Never use industrial gas for anything you’ll eat or drink.
What size cartridge does a mini keg use?
Mini kegs typically use threaded CO2 cartridges — commonly 16g, 33g, or larger depending on the system. For beverages, always use beverage-grade CO2 and verify the size your system’s manufacturer specifies.

How do I use a RedRock bike inflator?
Unscrew the sleeve and insert an unthreaded cartridge. Slowly screw the sleeve back on until the cartridge contacts the puncture pin, then screw firmly to puncture and seal. Attach the head to your Schrader or Presta valve, press the button to inflate, and disconnect.

How do I know what cartridge to use for my life vest?
Check the vest’s label, manual, or the inflator mechanism itself for the required size, thread type, and fitting. Common options include 16g, 24g, 33g, or 38g cartridges with 3/8", 1/2", or 5/8" threaded fittings — browse Life Jacket & Vest Cartridges. Always match the exact spec your manufacturer lists.
Can I use industrial CO2 for a life jacket?
Yes — food-grade gas is unnecessary for life jacket use. What matters is matching the exact cartridge size, thread type, and fitting required by your life jacket manufacturer.
